Day 27 - Thu - 10/23/2025 - At Sea to FLL - Day 5
Sea days tend to blend together. There's a rhythm that we fall into that's very comfortable. Our pace is slower and there's time to read and walk the deck and chat with fellow passengers.
After our 8am interdenominational Bible study and breakfast, we attended the Meet the Captain session in the Princess Theater. It was good and the guests asked good questions. Immediately following this there was a crew tug of war among the ship departments staff. After three rounds, the Stateroom staff out pulled the beverage department. The Stateroom staff also won the best decorated contest. For their victories, there was some form of cash prize that wasn't specified. All of this took place on Deck 15 by the forward pool. It was very sunny and warm, but I found a nice viewpoint on Deck 16 under an overhang.
After lunch there was only one activity of interest to me (an enrichment lecture by Jacob on Spanish treasure (really good)) , so I spent the afternoon reading and finishing my second mystery novel. This was set on the Alaska Railroad train route between Anchorage and Whittier which we have taken a number of times, including this past August, so it was easy to identify with the descriptions on the train and the geographic scenery. For those who are interested, these are the Arliss Cutter series by Marc Cameron. I read them on my Kindle APP on my iPad mini or my iPhone. I was then able to start the sixth and last current book in the series and hope to finish it by the end of the cruise in a couple days.
Our evening entertainment was a West End theater singer and performer, Jennifer Tierney from Scotland. She was REALLY good and after watching most of the Emerald Tide's 8pm set, we went back for her 9:30pm set and sat in the first row for a different perspective. It was equally good the second time.
Returning to our room, we watched the last 30 minutes of the 1997 movie, ABBA: The Movie.
Our clocks were set back another hour and we'll have one more time change tomorrow night which will put us on Fort Lauderdale time for our early Sunday morning arrival.
Tomorrow is our next to last sea day. The schedule is pretty light once again which is a little disappointing. There's definitely been time for more enrichment lectures.
