Day 24 - Mon - 10/20/2025 - At Sea to FLL - Day 2
It was another very short night. The Mariners played starting at 1am our time and unfortunately they lost which forced a final game 7 which will be played tonight starting just after midnight our time. It's been helpful that we are getting back timezones as the ship sails west. So when the game hopefully ends around 3am it will actually be 2am our time as the clocks went back at 2am during the game.
We were able to get up for the interdenominational Bible study and it was once again very good. Afterwards we enjoyed a light breakfast in the LIDO before attending the enrichment lecture at 10am presented by Jacob Marvin. His topic today was three Atlantic crossings and the myths that they were. For me there were no further activities of interest for the rest of the day until 2pm when some of the singers and dancers were interviewed by Pauline, our Cruise Director and they took questions from the audience. What I found most interesting is that the entire cast is on a Level 3 contract meaning that they are together through 18 months on board 3 ships: Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby Princess. So when then move from ship to ship, they move together and already know the shows that they will be presenting. A second thing that was interesting is that Princess does the training. Other cruise lines contract with talent agencies to do the hiring and training. And a 3rd thing is that one singer is 55 and another is in her 40's. Most people think the cast members are young people.
The rest of the day I spent reading my second book and the mystery novel is getting quite exciting. Dinner tonight was an India Indian themed meal. I really enjoyed the fried onion strips (Pakora) accented with special sauces including siracha.
After dinner we went to the evening show which was a rock music singer, Mark Bueberry, who was quite good. He'll be doing a matinee show in a few day's time. After the show, Angela went to karaoke and I returned to the stateroom to writing my blog. As I have written previously, there are lots of activities all day, but my choice is to focus on key ones that I enjoy and use the time to walk, be still, read, and chat with passengers. Today's key chat was with a Blue Jays fan, and we had a delightful and enjoyable conversation about baseball and the history of the Jays.
Tomorrow is another sea day and there is nothing of interest on the daily schedule until the evening show that is of interest. I should be able to finish this current book with all of that time.
