Day 11 - Tue - 10/07/2025 - At Sea to Southampton-Day 1
Overnight there was a bit of motion to the ocean. I really only felt it when I woke up for bio-breaks. As it was a sea day we first attended the interdenominational Bible study. It was a small group but we had great discussion around Mark Chapter 2. Afterwards we enjoyed breakfast before attending Debbie's port talk on our possible port stop in Ålesund tomorrow. Her talk was excellent and this looks to be an interesting final port stop in Norway. After her talk I walked laps inside on deck 7.
Around 11am the Captain came on the PA system and announced the port cancellation due to the adverse weather conditions which would jeopardize our arrival into Southampton which is our turnaround port for the next segment of our cruise. He did indicate that the weather and sea conditions would begin to improve after tomorrow. It's sad to miss this last port, but safety is of highest importance.
Following a nice pizza lunch in the lido Marketplace, we attended Pauline's (cruise director) Princess theater sensation in life at sea. She talked about hiring, life on board, and answered questions. It was a pretty good event. I had nothing else the rest of the afternoon, so I did some more walking and the Captain came on the PA system with some good news. He had been able to secure a port stop in LeHavre which is located just across the channel from Southampton. So we'll just have two more sea days, then LeHavre.
What's interesting about this change is that if the ship will permit it, we could get off in LeHavre, take a 2 hour train to Paris, spend two nights there, and then reboard the ship when it returns to LeHavre after the turnaround day. I put in a request at the front desk to do this, but haven't heard back as of this writing whether it is possible.
After dinner we attended Krystal Washington's Broadway show tunes presentation which was a last minute replacement for the scheduled performer who got seasick. Krystal is part of the singers/dancers and we've seen her give solo performances previously. She's a really good singer and performer and seamstress!
We capped off our entertainment evening watch the last part of the Emerald Tide's set in O'Malley's Irish Pub. But to really finish the evening, we did a load of laundry and I composed this blog entry while waiting for the washing machine. We'll dry the clothes in our room by just hanging them up. That works well for us as we travel with primarily polyester or rayon clothing.
