Day 15 - Sat - 10/11/2025 - Southampton Turnaround Day

It was a really short night; actually it didn't exist. The Mariners Game 5 playoff game to advance to the next round of the World Series playoffs started at 1AM our time.  I have an app, SEATTLE SPORTS that allows us to listen to the local radio coverage on my phone.  The game ended up going 5 hours with the Mariners winning in the bottom of the 15th inning with a score of 3-2 against the Detroit Tigers.  So we got to sleep around 6:30-7am just as the Emerald Princess was docking at the Queen Elizabeth 2 dock which is the farthest from downtown.  I went to sleep and woke up around 10:30am.  I woke up to an empty bed as Angela had left the room because of the residual smell from the refueling operation.  The smell didn't bother me.

My medallion still wouldn't work and my name was not on the entry wall.  So I went down to the front desk for the 6th time for this issue.  I waited extra long to be able to see the Front Desk clerk who had previously "helped" me.  She was apologetic and went in the back room and came back and said it would work now.  I said twice with the friendliest voice I could muster, "Are you absolutely positively certain?"  She smiled and said, "Yes."  So I went back to the room and it finally worked.  Later in the day I went by the Front Desk and gave her the two thumbs up which she acknowledged with a grin,

I had a late breakfast and we set a milestone today.  After over a 1,000 nights on ships, we didn't get off of the ship in a port.  It was good just to relax especially after the short night.  I did do laps around deck 7 and 8 before we decided to eat dinner in O'Malley's Irish Pub.  We were there before the dinner service started at 5pm, but our order wasn't taken until 5:20pm.  We had contact with the Manager and explained the situation.  There was virtually no service on our half of the room and I think he had a new employee that started today.  The food was great and we enjoy eating there.  Since we don't have the package we were charged $14.99 plus 18% gratuity.  We have $400 in shipboard credit, so we'll spend it on experiences.

The evening show was a terrific juggler, Pete Matthews, who was also a very good comic.  It was a fun show.  After the show I helped Jackie plan our excursion to Mont Saint Michel for Sunday.  Afterwards I joined Angela at her Spotlight Karaoke session.  I then retired to our stateroom as we need to be up to meet Jackie & George at 7:45am.  We also lose an hour as we go back to LeHavre.

Our excursion tomorrow is a bucket list item for me.  We purchased tickets in 2016, but couldn't travel there due to French strikes that blocked roadways.
