Day 05 - Wed - 10/01/2025 - At Sea to Tromsø
It was nice to wake up on this sea day with sunshine. We first attended the interdenominational Bible study where we continued our study of Mark. Afterwards we ate breakfast and then attended Debbie's lecture on the upcoming port of Alta where we'll overnight. She spoke nonstop for 50 minutes, and her presentation was recorded for rebroadcast on the stateroom television.
Lunch followed and for me the rest of the afternoon was free. Angela took in a spoons class and a choir practice. I continued reading my book and this portion covered the formation of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines in the form we know it today. Carnival also acquired Holland America for $650 million. We also did a load of laundry and hung it to dry in our stateroom.
Every day there is a Captain's Circle party at 4:30pm featuring ordeurves and discount drinks. Platinum and Elite passengers can attend so we decided to check it out. It was okay, but we don't think we'll do another. We don't need more food. By the way, Elites make up about 1/3 of the ship (1,016 Elites).
After dinner we attend the stage show disco music by the singers and dancers. After the show a general announcement came from the bridge that the Northern Lights were on display. It was quite the scene of people scurrying to get warm clothes and heading outside. We did the same and found ourselves midship up on deck 17 and the lights were the best we have seen so far.
Seeing the colorful display of the Northern Lights was a great way to end our day. Tomorrow we are in Tromsø and are looking forward to our visit there.
